James Island Toddler Friendly Restaurants
We recently have tried 2 new restaurants on James Island in Charleston, SC with the kids that I feel are toddler friendly restaurants.
Crust

Crust is a small pizza restaurant so I recommend getting there early. We were there as soon as they opened at 11am on a Sunday and it was not busy by the time we left. They do have an outdoor seating area that is covered at the front of the restaurant. The kids loved the cheese pizza! I had the special burrata that came with a salad and my husband had a speciality pizza. It was delicious! It is nice to go to a pizza restaurant that offers a little something more than just pizza.
Charleston Crab House
My son saw Charleston Crab House on Wappoo Creek and really wanted to go! I think he was drawn to the idea of sitting and eating where he could watch the boats go by! We went on a beautiful spring Friday afternoon around 530pm. Although the parking lot was full, we were able to get a table outside. There was a little sun on 2 of the seats at the beginning but was pretty well shaded. There is a covered patio as well which is a great way to enjoy watching the boats go by without being in the sun.

I loved that Charleston Crab House on Wappoo Creek offered us both a booster seat and a highchair. We ordered fish and popcorn shrimp off the kid’s menu. The popcorn shrimp was definitely a favorite. I ordered the soft shell crab special since I had wanted to try out a “softie” before the season is over. It was fried and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The collard greens on the side were also really good, as were the grits but the kids ate most of my grits. My husband had the grilled red fish which he enjoyed.
If you want waterfront dining in Charleston without the crowds and somewhere kid-friendly, I would say Charleston Crab House is the place to go.
I will add to this list as I try more restaurants around James Island as one thing I’ve learned in my travels is some restaurants are more kid-friendly than others!
