Fun Family friendly activities in greensboro

For a couple years we lived in Greensboro, NC and we figured out the best family friendly activities in Greensboro for you to take kids of all ages. So if you are just passing through or live close by, here is some ideas for you to burn some energy for the kids!

Family Friendly Activities in Greensboro

Greensboro science center

One of the most well known places for kids in Greensboro is the science center. We were fortunate to live close by and we visited almost once a week. In addition, if you plan on going multiple times I recommend getting the yearly pass as it pays for itself quickly. Kids under 3 years old are free!

At the science center you have everything from an aquarium, playgrounds, zoo, and an aerial adventure park. In addition they have special pop up activities that kids love. During Christmas time they have a light exhibit that is amazing and people come from all over to see. Buy tickets in advance.

The science center is stroller friendly as well. So don’t be worried about having to carry infants around everywhere. There is a food place in the center, but I cannot speak to the food as we always just brought snacks for the kids. Lastly there is a huge carousel that is only $2 to ride but $1 if you have a membership. Our son always had to ride the tiger!

Greensboro children’s museum

The Children’s Museum is located downtown Greensboro and has activities for all ages including infants. We were gifted an annual pass for this which also paid for itself after a few visits.

This interactive museum is safe and has everything from a fire truck, race car, play grocery store, and an airplane! Also very stroller friendly. Therefore many families hold birthday parties here for their young ones.

In addition for younger children there is a 2 years and under part that always for crawling babies to explore numerous toys and slides. There is also an outside garden that talks about farming and plants. Walk around the path and let the kids check out the chickens!

Greensboro Grasshoppers

Downtown there is a minor league baseball team called the Grasshoppers. Our son is a huge fan of baseball so we really enjoyed taking him to the game! There are kid friendly actives as well as a playground that is covered by netting so you don’t have to worry about foul balls.

Greensboro Parks and Gardens

If you are looking for more just outside activities, there are numerous parks and gardens you can visit. The most well known park in Greensboro is probably LeBauer Park where they host live music and other events.

During blooming season we enjoyed walking around Greensboro Botanical Garden! There is so many beautiful flowers to see as well as some history along the walk. The Garden is free to enter as well as free parking. Our kids just enjoyed riding the stroller around and looking at all the beautiful sights.

family friendly Greensboro restaurants

Greensboro is a very family oriented city, so most places are family friendly and inviting. Here are just a few that we really enjoyed with the kids.

Lindley park filling station

LPFS was one of my top places to eat with my children. They offer a wild array of food and drink options. On Sunday they have a great Brunch menu!

scrambled southern diner

This breakfast place is extremely well known and you should look to get here early. They do not take reservations but you can join the waitlist. They offer lunch items starting at 11:00 a.m. but we never visited this late.

the sage Mule

This restaurant is located downtown and offers indoor and outdoor seating. It is a breakfast/brunch kind of menu and is only open until 2 p.m.

Greensboro places to stay

Depending if you are just stopping through or looking to stay for the weekend there are different options on where to stay. You can stay near the Friendly center if you are looking to do some shopping or downtown if you are looking to eat and go to a baseball game.

We stayed at The Proximity when we first visited Greensboro. This hotel is super nice and houses possibly the best restaurant in Greensboro Print Works. If you want to stay downtown, I would suggest the Marriott as its walking distance to the museum and baseball field.

Last of all, they recently opened a Top Golf in Greensboro, NC and if you want to take your kids here I have a post with tips on how to get the most out of it!
