Fun Atlantis Bahamas Toddler Activities and Infant Activities
Our family just got back from a long weekend in Atlantis Bahamas. Our toddler had a great time and it was the baby’s first time in a pool. It was a memorable experience for all. We thought there were plenty of toddler activities at Atlantis Bahamas.
Aquarium: The Dig at Atlantis Bahamas
We went to The Dig everyday! It is in the level below the lobby at the Royal. Our toddler was interested in seeing the fish, lobsters, sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, etc. every time we walked through. The highlight for him was when the scuba divers were doing maintenance on the tank. He would have liked to stay watching them for hours. The Dig is free because it is included in your hotel stay!
Atlantis Bahamas Kids’ Pools in Aquaventure
Poseidon Play Zone
The best kids pool at Atlantis Bahamas is the Poseidon’s Play Zone. It is open from 9am-5pm. The water is warmer than the other pools. Our baby cried when we put her in another pool because it was too chilly. She did not mind the warmer water at the Poseidon Play Zone. You will get splashed while in Poseidon play zones because of all the squirting toys. My baby loved sitting by the edge where the mini fountains were. JL, my toddler, particularly loved the water guns.
There is a part of the Poseidon Play Zone with water slides that does not open until 10am. This part is basically a play ground in the water so depending on how adventurous your toddler is, they may or not be interested. JL wondered through there a couple times but for the most part he wanted to stay near the water guns.
There is ample seating at the Poseidon Play Zone if you get there early. Many people reserve seats with towels so it can be hard to find multiple seats together if you get there later in the day. We went at 845am one morning and there were already several other families reserving seats before the pool even opened. We usually only need one or 2 chairs so we never had a problem getting one. However, if you want several chairs together or to be on the front row by the pool, get there early.
Mayan Temple Pool
We spent one morning in the Mayan Temple Pool as it has a large shallow area that is toddler friendly. Even without toys our toddler was entertained there but I did see him eyeing toys brought by other parents. The water there is not warmed so our baby was not a fan.
Towels and Wristbands in Aquaventure
There is a towel and wristband stand by the Poseidon Playzone. Wristbands are required to get towels. You can leave one on the whole time as it has your checkout date printed on.
Life Jackets in Aquaventure
Throughout Aquaventure in Atlantis Bahamas, there are life jackets stands for free day use. While they are not required for pool areas, they are a great resource for novice swimmers.
The Arcade at Atlantis
The Arcade at Atlantis is a fairly small room with about 20 gaming machines. You have to buy a separate card for the “Gamer’s Reef” from the attendant to use on the machines. A game ranges from $1-$3 to play. Cards start at $25 and when you reload, it has to be for at least $15. So the arcade is definitely not the most budget friendly activity but our toddler enjoyed his time there. He actually won a ball from one of the machines that survived in our luggage home.
Lagoon Beach
JL loves to play in the sand so I wanted to spend a little time at the beach while in Atlantis. There is so much to do at Aquaventure so you can skip the beach if you want to avoid the sand all together. I chose Lagoon Beach because it is not actually on the ocean so it has a decent shallow portion. Plus, it is close to bathrooms, The Dig and Shake Shack for when you get hungry.
We did not pack any beach toys so we bought him a souvenir beach kit from The Dig gift shop for $19. I wish I had thought ahead and packed some which would have been cheaper. He did really enjoy playing with them though!
Kids Adventures at Atlantis
If your kids are over 3 years old, they can participate at Kids Adventures at Atlantis. Our son was only 2 years old so I can not speak to the quality of the programming. Click here for more information on the Atlantis Kids’ Club.
The Royal at Atlantis with a Toddler and Infant
We stayed at The Royal at Atlantis. This was after spending a lot of time reading reviews of all the different hotels on the Atlantis Bahamas property. The Royal at Atlantis won because we read it was right in the action. We did not want to have to trek too far to the aquarium or kids pools with both kids. The other factor is we read that The Royal was recently renovated.
Cribs at Atlantis
One of the hardest things about traveling with infants and toddlers is the gear. So we were grateful that Atlantis said they would provide 2 cribs to our room for both our children. We did have to call housekeeping as they were not in our room upon arrival. However, they arrived within 30 minutes of our call.
